  • Setting up an AUDIT TRAIL

Does anyone have a quick document to set-up an audit trail? I have made an attempt at following the HELP but am having no luck. If someone can get me started it would be great.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

Thre is a small setup which need to be changed by YOUR dba.

    fficeffice" />>>

Just a quick note - if you use the "quote" or "code" buttons to format your response, you won't get the funky smiley faces

Also - the property "glog.audit.beforeafter=on" should be added to the Custom Properties section of your glog.properties file (it'll override the glog.base.properties file). This ensures that OTM patches don't revert your change.

Re: Setting up an AUDIT TRAIL

        1. First create a contact named AUD. For the comm method - pick a rank of 1 and AUD.

        2. Then, Go to Business Process Automation --> Communication Management --> Contact Notification

        3. Search for an Action you want to be modified. For this example, let's search for ORDER - MODIFIED as it
is a good action to audit.

        4. Click to Edit the Action

        5. Under Contact ID field, put AUD. Under communication method, also choose AUD. Click Saved, Then
        finish

        6. Now, every time a order is modified, it will get logged to the audit table.

        7. ORDER - REMOVED, SHIPMENT - REMOVED, ORDER - CREATED AND SHIPMENT - CREATED are a couple other good actions to monitor. Just don't get

Re: Setting up an AUDIT TRAIL

On Notification tab of contact created as AUD , select Transctional Event (Created from Business process Automation >> event management>> transactional events) in Transaction Event and select Com Method as AUD. Save it and then perform action specified in Notification subject of Transaction Event. You will be able to see Audit Logs for Transactional Event.

Even we can add all actions for which audit log is required under Subject on Notification tab of contact created as AUD. There is no need to add it seperately for contact of every action.

If you change communication method on contact (for example message center) then are you getting proper notification ?

Re: Setting up an AUDIT TRAIL

                  Hi,

I just want to add my observation to this. I had this question in my mind from way back.
In my set up, I didn't set the 'glog.audit.beforeafter=on' property. I used default property only. i.e. 'glog.audit.beforeafter=off' only.
Still I am getting audit results.
Then what is the use/significance to set glog.audit.beforeafter property to 'ON'.

Can any one explain me, please.

                  Thank you.
                  Sunny.

Re: Setting up an AUDIT TRAIL

glog.audit.beforeafter property provides you to get detailed audit logs.

If value of this property is set to 'OFF' then you dont get details in Data Changes section of Audit Trail Entry.

If value of this property is set to 'ON' then you get details in Data Changes section of Audit Trail Entry.
