  • OTM installation

    Hi All,

    Version:5.5 CU3
    Operating System:Microsoft Windows XP Professional

I have a system, which is acting as a Reports Server and DB server and Weblogic installed. When I install OTM on that machine(choosing Web,App and Report components during the installation),everything goes fine. After installation of OTM,there should be 4 Windows services(one for App,one for Reports, one for Tomcat and last for Apache). But I get only 3 services and the apache service does not exist. Therefore,I am unable to start OTM.Is it something to do with OS?Please let me know what to do?

Kindly help me on to how to solve this issue?

    Regards,
    Nikesh.

    Re: OTM installation

    Nikesh,

I have seen this issue in the past on Windows machines. If you have IIS running the apache service will not install. You will need to remove IIS and re-install the service. The re-install service should be under otm\apache\bin. Also you really should not be installing the OTM application on XP as Oracle support most likely will not provide help on unsupported operating systems..

    Good Luck,
    Nick

      Re: OTM installation

      Hi Nick,

Thanks for your instant reply. So what I get from your reply is that its better to install OTM on a Linux machine?
Everything is working fine on Windows machine, when we dont have the report component installed.

      Regards,
      Nikesh.

        Re: OTM installation

        Hi Nikesh,

You can certainly install on Windows but you need to follow what platforms have been approved for Windows per the admin guide. For 5.5 you can either use Windows 2000 or Windows 2003. As I mentioned before the times that I have seen that Apache service does not install is when you has IIS installed on the same machine. If you run the reinstall service it should tell you why it is erroring on the install of that service.
