  • OTM - FTI Installation

    Hi All,

Is it possible to install FTI on different physical server (with Linux or Windows OS) and then integrate with OTM which is already installed on some other server.
Ans:Yes.As long as there is connectivity between OTM Servers and the BIEE
    server.

Question: It this possible to install FTI on Windows/Linux and integrate with OTM v5.5 CU3 which is installed on Sun Solaris 10 32bit/64bit [Not on Windows/Linux]?

    Any help is highly appreciated.

    Hi Surender,

Since OBI is installed with its own version of tomcat and apache yes it is possible to install it on Linux/Windows and have it interface with OTM on a Solaris.

      Re: OTM - FTI Installation

      Hi Nick,

OTM installed on SPARC(64 bit), and planning to install FTI on different platfrom. so is it possible to integrate with OTM? if we install FTI on different platform, then there would be any performance issues? What is the best/suggestable approach like FTI installation should be on same platform or can be on any other platform? from performance perspective, Which is the best/suitable OS for FTI installation and integration with OTM?

        Re: OTM - FTI Installation

        Hi Ram,

I don't think it matters what FTI/OBIEE is installed on. I have seen some customers install Linux for OTM and then Windows for OBIEE (since the administration console isn't included with Linux). We just haven't tested this internally as everything we use is on Linux (with the exception of some third party apps that only run on Windows).

We have also removed the Tomcat/Apache installation from the OBIEE integration and have replaced it with the default OC4J that ships with OBIEE and haven't encountered any issues.
