  • Can I import of 5.0 database on Oracle 10G

    Hi All,

Can I import the DB dump of OTM v5.0 exported from Oracle 9i database to Oracle 10G.

Has anybody tried doing this with their Test or Devl environments.

Do you thing this won't work?

Any clarification of this is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Suresh

    Suresh,

Yes - this should work without issue. I had done this in one of our test environments in the early days of OTM v5.5 without too many issues. The side benefit of exporting and importing is that it will compress your datafiles, removing fragmentation and free space within the data blocks.

You may not, however, be able to run OTM v5.0 against the 10.2.0.3 database -- instead you'd run the v5.0 to v5.5 migration scripts at this point and then run OTM v5.5 against the new database.

      Hi Chris,

Thanks very. I configured the 5.0 databse on separate Oracle 9i version.

        Chris,

Based on your response to this original post you were questioning whether OTM v5.0 would run on a 10.2.0.3 database. Were you able to answer that question or have you seen v5.0 run on a 10g instance?

No - not that I can remember (at least not in production). We did this a few times back in development, but it was never fully tested since it wasn't a production scenario. The move to 10.2.0.3 was intended as part of the larger migration to v5.5.
