  • Multistop planning

    Hi,

We're looking to model a multistop itinerary to accomodate shipments that have stop-off locations before the final destination. For example, we'll shipping from A->B->C with B being the stop-off location. We have rate for A->C and A->B but not B->C, how can we model our itinerary such that OTM will allow a stop-off even though we don't have rate from B->C? Thanks for your help!

if both B and c are in the same province u can use Loction to Province option in the itenary and define one leg .

      Re: Multistop planning

You may also want to look into using the circuity functionality on the rate offering if you want to keep from having so many itineraries. In addition, if you are bulk planning the orders and want the multistopping to work properly, adjust your planning parameters. There are a number of planning parameters that deal with multistops and distance tolerances. A couple that come to mind are MULTISTOP OUT OF ROUTE DISTANCE PCT TOLERANCE and MULTISTOP OUT OF ROUTE DISTANCE TOLERANCE.

      Hope this helps.

      Thanks,
      Thomas

        Re: Multistop planning

We have a multistop USA to USA itinerary setup with rates that support A->B and A->C, We've tried to reviewed the log to see why OTM is planning 2 separate TL shipments (A->B and A->C) when we'd like OTM to plan 1 TL shipment of A->B->C with a stop-off at location B. We've checked the multistop planning parameters and set them accordingly but still getting 2 shipments instead of 1. Thanks again for all of your help!

          Re: Multistop planning

We have our rate records set with Shipment Total Distance Travelled as our cost which allows the cost to be calculated for the entire shipment even though there is only a cost for part.

That said, I was in testing this morning trying to put a few orders together into a shipment using the bulk planner and they wouldn't go either. The system works, it's just that sometimes we don't really know why OTM won't combine shipments.

            Re: Multistop planning

Our TL rates are defined as Shipment Total Distance Traveled too, we tried adding another rate record from location A to USA instead of a region or state, and still OTM wouldn't plan my orders into 1 shipment. We're beginning to back track and re-think how our config might have thrown OTM off.

              otmrook,

did you try using the circuity functionality on the rate offering? I'm not sure what version your on but 5.0 and higher I believe you can choose 0 for the charge. This funcitonality gives the carrier the ability to go out of route to add additional pickups or deliveries to there route. Be sure the stops on the offering are setup as well, along with the low/high stops and costs (if applicable). The other thing you may want to look into is your service time (rate service). If your orders have specific pickups and/or delivery dates make sure that the trip is actually time feasible (A>B>C).

              Let me know.

              Thanks,
              Thomas
