  • Using a second rate service

Currently, all TL and LTL rate offerings are set up using a single rate service. We want to have a second rate service which is applied to all carriers when the order destination location is a particular customer (a set of locations). Is there an easy way to accomplish this? Rate Records are set up zip to zip here.

My thought is that there is a rate service field in the rate record. So I was assuming that would override the rate service on the rate offering for that rate record. So a rate record would be created for each carrier and source location, which would be zip to region, where the region is the group of customer locations. That would still require roughly 10 (number of possible source locations) times the number of carriers, new rate records. Would this work and is there a better approach?

You can use that or if service time differs based on different lane but duration is fixed for each lane you can speific the same in Rate service configiuration itself

Yes, you can use the option of defining second Rate Service on Rate Record to override that on Rate Offering. Alternatively, try creating an itinerary from zip to region. Region would consist of locations for which second Rate Service needs to be used. Then on the specific leg in that itinerary assign Rate Service Profile consisting of single of multiple Rate Services that need to be used. You may be able to avoid creating multiple Rate Records that way.
