While building cross-dock shipments, is it essential that all shipments to be bundled at the cross-dock 'arrive' at the cross-dock at the exact same time? If not, what is the permissible time range within which all the arriving shipments reach the docking point, for them to be bundled/cross docked.

    Kindly clarify.

    Regards,
    Sri

    Re: Cross-dock

My cross-dock scenario is as follows:

There are 3 individual shipments arriving from 3 different source locations [ A, B and C] to the cross-dock point X.

At cross dock 'X' there are 3 trucks waiting to move to 3 different destinations [L,M and N]

Truck to L carries a combination of items from A and B
Truck to M carries a combination of items items from A and C
Truck to N carries a part of items from B

My question is- is it necessary for all 3 trucks i.e trucks from A, B and C to arrive at point X at the exact same time, for OTM to be able to deconsolidate and consolidate the items back and put them on the respective trucks to L, M and N.

    Kindly resolve my doubt.
