  • Driver Management in OTM

    Hi Friends,

I am new to OTM and also to this forum.I am Kiran who works for a 3PL company in Singapore.

We currently is doing the analysis in OTM, to see how we can fit OTM perfectly for our business.

I have a lot of doubts and to start with I would like to know how we can configure Drivers in OTM.

Scenario is that after registering assets in equipments (trucks), we would like to have drivers set in OTM and then assign drivers to shipments.

Please feel free to ask any number of questions and please help me.

    Thanks in advance,

    Cheers,
    Kiran

    Re: Driver Management in OTM

    Kiran,

This is currently not a feature of OTM and Oracle is trying to push Oracle Asset Manager to supply the bulk of this functionality.

However - in OTM 6.0, the OTM development team is building out this functionality considerably and I would expect it to fulfill most client requirements either sometime within v6.0 (via CU updates) or in v6.5 (or whatever version comes next).

    Thanks,
    Chris

        Re: Driver Management in OTM

Oracle won't give any specific dates, other than the year -- so 6.0 is anticipated for release in 2008.

            Kishore,

The best place for a consolidated list of the new OTM v6.0 features and updates is Jim Mooney's presentation from the OTM SIG User Conference last year:

            http://www.otmfaq.com/forums/f31/otm...-417/#post1025

I'm aware of a few more changes going into v6.0, but I'm not sure if they're meant to be released publicly yet (because they may or may not make the final release, etc..)

I can say that most people thinking about 6.0 are expecting a release late this year (Dec 200 and don't expect to begin implementing internally until June 2009 at the earliest (roughly the first CU). Keep in mind that these dates are still speculation, as Oracle won't commit to a release date.

            Hope this helps!

              Hi Kiran

In Driver Management OTM 6.0, there is a feature Work Invoice Manager, where shipments are allocated to the driver.

              Thx

                Hi Kiran,

You can explore the actions: Assign Driver ot shipment or Assign Shipment to Driver to match your requirements.

This action is present in OTM v6.0

                Regards,
                Nikesh.

                  Hi Kiran

In Driver Management OTM 6.0, Drivers can be classified in two groups:-
Driver Groups: drivers are broadly classified into two groups – employee drivers and Independent Contractors (ICs). However, as evident from the list above there are many other ways in which drivers can be grouped – driver type (team, solo, etc), experience level (senior, junior, etc), etc.

There are Driver compatibilities, preferences, restrictions which can be furter modelled to use proper utilization of drivers and their preferences

                  Thx

                    Hi all,
I am working on OTM 6.0 and would like to know how I can get Shipment assignment data based on the Tractor Unit Id which should include any assignments for the next x days and the past y days with a minimum of z activities (x, y, z will initially be set to 3, 3, and 5 ).

                    Thank you.

                      Re: Driver Management in OTM

                      Hi ,
Shipment can be assigned to Equipment in 6.0 by below methods :

                      Manual:
•When the Equipment or Equipment Type ID is known or can be explicitly searched for in the context of an action, then the user can run the action Assign Equipment (or Equipment Type) – Manual.
•In this case the user is presented with a Pick List Entry field (F,L,V,N), where the Equipment/ Equipment Type ID can be entered, or looked up with the pick list functionality.
                      Show Options:

User is presented with a sorted list of assignment options.
•Here, the action runs the business logic to determine all feasible candidates, and return the array, sorted from best-to-least. Best to least qualitative sorting is accomplished by use of the rating engine’s weighted cost functionality. In this case user must visually evaluate the list of candidates and select one.
                      Best Option:

•Similar to the Show Options, except the qualitative best candidate, from the top of what would be the list, is automatically assigned.

                      Thanks & Regards

                        Hi,

I am new to OTM and was trying to assign the Driver to a Sell shipment.
I went to Drivers > Actions > Assign > shipments

But I am able to see only Buy Shipments to be assigned to drivers, Sell shipments are not available.

                        Am I missing something?

                        Regards
                        Ajay

                          You can try:
                          1) Change FLEET DEFAULT DRIVER SAVED QUERY ID on Parametr Set
                          OR
                          2) Create new Dispatch Board (Copy default Advanced Layout) and set there Sell Shipment Table Set. Then you need attach new Layout to your menu and try to assign Driver from new Dispatch Board.
